While Internet street map directories such as Mapquest.com are usually fine when it comes to highway directions and exit numbers, they are horrible when it comes to local streets, especially in Newton, MA, where my office is located. Clients who have tried to use these Internet map services in the past have frequently gotten lost. I, therefore, suggest that you use the directions I have provided below, especially when you exit Routes 95 & 128 and get onto Route 9 East or when you exit the Mass. Turnpike (Route 90) and get on the local Newton streets. I'm sure you'll find my directions extremely easy to follow.

FROM BOSTON AND BRIGHTON, MA:

Heading West on the Massachusetts Turnpike (Route 90), get off at Exit #17 Newton/Watertown. At the end of the off ramp you'll come to a traffic light. In front of you will be a sign that says W. Newton straight ahead. (My office is actually in West Newton.) Follow that sign straight ahead exactly 1.7 miles. (Do not bear left, turn left, or fork left.)

Traveling straight ahead immediately puts you on Washington St. (the street my office is on). You will go through 9 additional traffic lights. My office is at 1075 Washington St. on the right-hand side approximately 3/10 mile past the 9th (Lowell Ave) traffic light. On one side of my building is the Beacon Hill Athletic Club and Sleepy’s Mattress Center. On the opposite side of my building is Designer Cabinety, a kitchen design store.

You can park on either side of the street; there are no meters. (The only place you can't park is in the reserved parking lot behind my building.)

My building is a 2-story multi-colored Victorian house with two burnt-orange doors in the front (it used to be a two-family house, but now it's an office building). You'll see a large number 1075 halfway up the building.

To enter the building: walk up the front steps and enter the burnt-orange door on the right. (My name is listed next to that door.) Once inside, walk up one flight of stairs. At the top of the stairs, turn right and walk to the end of the hall and turn right again. You will be facing my door with my name on it. Knock if you are late. Otherwise, have a seat in the waiting area just outside my door.

FROM BOSTON & CAMBRIDGE, MA by Subway (the "T"):

For "T" information call: (617) 222-3200 or 1 (800) 392-6100 or see their website: www.mbta.com

There are 2 ways you can get to my office by Subway (T): the D Train or the Commuter Rail (Purple Line)

Get on the Outbound Green Line "D" Train. Get off at the Newton Highlands stop. My office is 2 1/2 miles from the station so I suggest you take a cab.

During normal daytime hours there are usually cabs in front of the station; however, I suggest you call Veterans Taxi (Newton's local cab co.) at (617) 527-0300 to make sure a taxi will be there when you arrive. Tell the cab driver my office is at 1075 Washington St. in West Newton (exactly 1/2 mile West of Walnut St., or 2 blocks East of Trader Joe's). On one side of my building is the Beacon Hill Athletic Club and Sleepy’s Mattress Center. On the opposite side of my building is Designer Cabinety, a kitchen design store.

Or, get on the Outbound Framingham/Worcester (Purple) Line. (Note: Although this subway line leaves you off only 1/2 mile from my office, it runs infrequently, approximately once an hour from 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m., Monday - Friday. On Saturdays it runs even less frequently. In addition, you can only board this train at Boston's South Station or Back Bay subway stops. Call the MBTA for train times (see above)). Get off at the Newtonville stop. Walk up to the street level. You will be on Walnut St. Turn right and walk 50 feet to Washington St. (my street). You should be able to see the Karoun Restaurant on the opposite side of the street on the far left corner. Turn left onto Washington St. and walk for exactly 1/2 mile. You'll be heading west, away from Boston. The "T" and the Mass Turnpike will remain on your left. On one side of my building is the Beacon Hill Athletic Club and Sleepy’s Mattress Center. On the opposite side of my building is Designer Cabinety, a kitchen design store.

Head West on Beacon St. toward Newton Center. From the Centre St. traffic light in Newton Center continue west on Beacon St. 6/10 mile until the next traffic light at Walnut St. (At the corners of Beacon and Walnut you will see two gas stations and the Whole Foods store on your left and a Walgreen's drug store on the right.)

Turn right onto Walnut St. and go exactly 1/2 mile. (At the 1/4 mile mark you will pass a group of stores including a Kentucky Fried Chicken on your left and a CVS drugstore and a travel agency on your right.) You will then cross over a small bridge which goes over the Mass. Turnpike. You'll immediately come to a traffic light. Turn left at the light onto Washington St. (my street). Go down Washington St. exactly 1/2 mile to number 1075, on the right-hand side. On one side of my building is the Beacon Hill Athletic Club and Sleepy’s Mattress Center. FROM CAPE COD, MA:

From Cape Cod you have two choices. You can either head North on Route 3 or head North on Route 495 to Route 24 North.

If you take Route 3 North, around the Braintree/Quincy, MA area, take Exit #20 (the sign says: "South to Rte. 93 & Rte. 95 toward Dedham"). As you approach the exit, get into the left-hand lanes because the exit forks left. (Note that the road is actually heading southwest.)

After a short distance, Route 93 starts heading northwest and becomes Route 95 North & Route 128 North. Continue heading North on Routes 95 and 128. (Do not get onto Rte. 24 and don't get onto 95 South). Stay on Rtes. 95 & 128 North. Take exit 20-A (the sign says: Route 9 East toward Brookline and Boston).

At the end of the exit ramp stay in the far right lane and you will immediately fork right taking you off of Route 9. Within 150 yards you will come to a stop sign. The cross street there is called Ellis St. Go straight through that stop sign one more block to the 2nd stop sign at Chestnut Street. Turn left onto Chestnut Street. You'll immediately go underneath Route 9. Take Chestnut Street all the way to the end (exactly 2.3 miles if you use your odometer. However, it seems more like 5 miles since there are several lights and stop signs).

At the end of Chestnut St. you'll come to Washington St. (my street). Turn right onto Washington St. and go just under 1/2 mile to number 1075, on the left-hand side. On one side of my building is the Beacon Hill Athletic Club and Sleepy’s Mattress Center. On the opposite side of my building is Designer Cabinety, a kitchen design store.
